It is a community-based initiative with an aim of empowering the women in the villages. We believe that helping women develop their inherent latent potential would bring about a holistic development for the society. In the last three years USHA International through their sewing school programme has reached out to remote villages across the country. The goal of the programme is to make women entrepreneurs in the village by teaching sewing and stitching within their homes. This programme is “inclusive” in character, thereby implying that it is implemented for the poor irrespective of their caste, class, religion or creed.
Output of the programme
- Made women entrepreneurs through the training of tailoring.
- Brought several positive changes in the lives of these women.
- Women got identity through the programme.
- Women were convinced that the hard work makes their dreams come true.
- 35 housewives became entrepreneurs.
